Microwave cooking in stoneware deep bake dishes is quick and easy. Finding recipes for this fairly new technology proves extremely difficult. Try these successful ones!

On acquiring stoneware microwave cookware, the buyer might be disappointed in not being able to find many recipes for it. Other than the bonus recipe that might have come with the purchase, there is little else to find at this time online. The food, however, comes out full of flavor, is filled with rich color and will inspire the cook to test out all kinds of recipes.

Regular Microwave Containers vs Microwaveable Stone Cookware

The stoneware option of cooking offers one a quick, well-flavored meal, with little clean-up, and many compliments. Brands such as the Pampered Chef Deep Dish Baker, will enable one to cook up to a 5lb chicken for a family or friends. Many home cooks complain that their own food always has the “same” flavor; this casserole container through the intense heat it distributes, integrates and blends the flavors of the ingredients and brings out a more enhanced taste than regular microwave or regular oven cooking.

Follow the Manufacturer’s Handling Instructions:

Below are two successful 30 – 40 minute meals that will make everyone smile. Before choosing either of these recipes, ensure that the manufacturer’s instructions are followed closely regarding pre-washing, oiling, and cleaning of the dish. The results and preservation of the container depend on the care and handling of this product.

Important points to follow:

  • Always ensure that the total base of the dish is evenly covered (not necessarily with liquid).
  • Oven mitts suggested by the manufacturer are essential and should be placed conveniently, to be at hand when the dish is removed from the microwave.
  • Stoneware microwave dishes must be put in the microwave with their lids on.

Chicken Breasts with Rice in Tomato Sauce – Recipe

Ingredients – serves 4

  • 1 ½ cups white uncooked rice
  • 3 cups liquid (combination made up of 1 16 oz can of diced tomato blended & chicken stock, or other packet soup; or use a prepared powder gravy to make up the same liquid quantity).
  • Mushrooms whole or sliced (or another choice of vegetable)
  • 3 chicken breasts, uncooked, each cut into thirds, lengthwise

Method

  1. Oil the stoneware with regular oil (not cooking spray). There should be a fine film of the oil all the way around, not a layer on the base.
  2. Sprinkle the uncooked rice on the base of the container
  3. Pour the 3 cups of prepared liquid (any choice) over the rice.
  4. Spread the breast pieces onto the base, on top of the rice and in the sauce.
  5. Put the vegetables in any place, between the chicken pieces, and put in the desired quantity necessary for the diners. For fewer servings, put in fewer vegetables. The chicken and vegetables will be partly covered by the sauce, depending on how many vegetables have been put in the dish.
  6. Put the lid on the container.
  7. Place in the microwave for 30 minutes.
  8. After 30 minutes, check to see if the ingredients need another 10 minutes, either for softness, or brownness.

Simple, delicious, enjoy!

Chicken & Vegetables Casserole – Recipe

  • ½ raw chicken (all in one piece or cut up)
  • 3 large potatoes cut into slices or cubes
  • Vegetables of choice (carrots, mushrooms, green beans) to fill the casserole dish

Method

  2. Place the raw chicken right side up on the base.
  3. Add the uncooked cut up potatoes, and vegetables all around the chicken, in the empty spaces.
  4. Drizzle a tablespoon of olive oil, all over the top of the ingredients. Add salt and pepper, and sprinkling of spices such as thyme and rosemany if desired.
  5. Put on the lid.
  6. Place the container in the microwave for 30 minutes.
  7. After 30 minutes check the meal; if necessary add another 10 minutes if a slightly browner effect is desired.
  8. Serve straight from the casserole dish.

Enjoy your meal!

Cleaning Your Stoneware Dishes

The easiest part is the clean up. Stoneware needs no soap or scrubbing. When the container is cool, put some water in it, and use paper towels to wipe the dish clean, and dry it. The beautiful cookware is ready and waiting for the next delectable meal.
